How can I post a gallery in WordPress that is password protected?

asked by Matt Huber

There are a few steps to take, but it’s quick and painless.

  • Make sure you are on WP 3.0 or above
  • Create a new page, let’s call it ‘Secure’ for now (other names may be proofs, comps, etc.)
  • Create another page for the gallery you want to password protect
  • On this page take care of several things
    • The title of your post (at top)
    • Under “Publish” at right, go to ‘Visibility” and hit “edit” and click on “Password protected” and enter the password you want to use, then “OK”
    • Under “Page Attributions” in the “Parent” drop down, choose “Secure” (or whatever page you created above.
    • Back under “Publish” click “Save Draft”

Now it’s time to load the gallery.

Above, next to “Upload/Insert” there is a small square within a square image (or “Add an Image” button). Click it. You will be taken to an upload page for your images.

Once you go through selecting all the images, click “Save all changes.”

Go BACK to the “Add an Image” button and it will show you a “Gallery” option. I recommend two images across.

Once you hit “Save” all you have to do is go test it out.

NOTE: Once you’ve entered the password, you will always have access to that page.

What is “Process Color”?

That’s a common question that has a long and sordid history.
